Hand made mixed metal earring representing the children of Lir. When King Lir’s much loved wife Aoibh died, in his grief he married Aoife. Jealous of his love for his four children she used her magic to transform his children into swans and condemned them to live in these bodies for nine hundred years The children had to spend 300 years on Lough Derravaragh, 300 years in the Sea of Moyle, and 300 years on the waters near to Inishglora Island until a church bell tolled and a monk blessed them. Only then were they freed from their spell.
